Ahmed Abid

Ahmed Abid is experienced in the uses of different media, including performing arts, film-making and new media to defend human rights and allow peace as an ARD (Alternative Dispute Resolution). Ahmed has much experience in the Development field: he was a research fellow of the Academy of Educational Development, the South Asia Regional Initiative on the Equity Support Program in India; he worked in terrestrial television and press in Bangladesh; he worked as an International Election Monitor in Cambodia; he was the Coordinator of Knowledge Management System of the SEARCH-CIDA Project since 2006 to 2010 and has held jobs in South and Southeast Asia. His recent documentary film ‘The dreaming Vendors’ on cross coastal trafficking, economic migration & lack of human security just had its international premiere on 11 November,2010 at the Foreign Correspondents’ Club of Thailand.

Abid has a Masters in Human Rights and Social Development from Mahidol University in Thailand with a special focus on Community Media in HRE. Ahmed holds his first Masters in Philosophy from the University of Dhaka, Bangladesh and completed a diploma from the European Inter-University Center for Human Rights and Democratization (EIUC) on Cinema and Human Rights from Venice, Italy. He is the artistic director of Human rights Film Festival in Thailand.
